Hunger Games - Locked Down and Ready for Adventure!

It's coming!  Friday is almost here and everyone involved in The Hunger Games Party at the Alexander County Library is getting excited.  I have heard more information about costumes and planned game strategies than I ever thought I would hear!

Everyone who is coming has reserved their spot with me.  We are FULL to capacity.

Here are the final plans.

McDonald's of Taylorsville is providing our food - Yum!  Thank you John and Lorie Harrell!  YAYA Maria is baking and decorating cakes for us, too!

McDonald's is also providing the winning pair of tickets for "The Hunger Games" at the Carmike 14 Theater in Hickory on opening night.  These will be awarded to the best costume for the night.

Regarding the costume contest, the adult chaperones attending will be our judges.  They will choose the teen who is dressed most creatively to reflect the character they wish to portray.  It does not have to be Katniss or Peeta.  If you make a mean PeaceKeeper, that might win!  All of our adults have read and know Hunger Games characters.

Rue Whistle Contest - There are four notes Rue whistled to Katniss.  There are YouTube videos that have it on it (and it's in the trailer).  If you enter the contest, you can whistle those notes or pick your own 4 notes.  Who is to say what those notes really were?  The challenge here will be to be able to whistle with 40 other teenagers and me staring at you!   Bah ha ha aha aha aha a!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wii - Archery - We will have a prize for the highest score of the night.

Wii - Fencing - Another prize for the highest score for the night.

Fan Fiction - Was there a scene in The Hunger Games that you would have done differently?  By all means tell us!  The computers will be available for you to type up your scene.  Entries can be read by you or someone you choose.  The one voted best by the teens gets a prize!

EAT THE BERRIES Dramatic reentactment - You know, those "delicious" berries that took out Foxface?  How do you think you would look going down after eating Nighlock Berries?  We will video these contestants and play it back for all to judge.

Meet Abbi From The Movie! - Abbi who is a friend of YAYA Alexa is coming to the party and will share her movie making experience with us.  She is also in the trailer!  We will watch it after meeting her and see if we can spot her.

Paint The Banner - We have lots of cool paint and a banner upon which all party attendees can contribute their creative stamp.

Finally, here is the document you and your parent MUST sign before you may enter the party zone Friday night.  No signed form? No fun for you!  And I will be sad...

Please call me at the library at 632-4058 or Facebook me if you have any questions! - Mel
